As one of the world's fastest growing tech hubs, New York has a big startup community. The best way to network with and learn from members of that community is to attend New York startup events. Here's a small sampling of the startup events that NYC has to offer.
New York Tech Meetup
New York Tech Meetup holds monthly demo nights at NYU's Skirball Theater, where nine to ten technology companies show off their new products. You may recognize the names of some of the companies that have demoed at past events, including: Foursquare, Tumblr, Vimeo, Audible, The Ladders, and HowAboutWe. Tickets are released in batches, and tend to go fast. If you can't get a ticket to the main event, there are monthly simulcasts where smaller groups meet to watch the demos.
Entrepreneurs Roundtable New York
Entrepreneurs Roundtable, a non-profit startup accelerator, holds monthly events in New York City. The featured speaker is always a prominent VC/investor who gives feedback on the startup pitches made at the event. Each attendee gets to make an introduction, and is given opportunities for networking. Past speakers have included Fred Wilson (VC at Union Sqaure Ventures) and Esther Dyson (well-known angel investor).
